Christmas Eve
December 24, 2010

It was an hour before Christmas Eve Candle Light Service. Who do you think comes walking down the ramp from the church. Yes, it was Santa. Two children were walking along the street looking for Santa Phil Owen, and when they found him at Zion they were heard to say, "See, I told you Santa was here." Santa Phil was making his rounds in Silverhill.

There is more to Christmas Eve Candle Light Services than just showing up. Poinsettias need to be positioned in the Sanctuary. Candles have to be readied for worship. Charles Canning assembles candles with wax shields for use at the close of the Christmas Eve Service.

Charles Canning and Pete Midgarden had just finished preparation of poinsettias for Christmas. Charlie was taking care of candles. Pete decided to take care of refuse, so here he is, Christmas Eve day, emptying the garbage.

From Left to right, Paul Nadeau (son), Emily Nadeau (daughter-in-law), Carol Carlson (daughter), Linda Dahl (daughter), and Evelyn Ulrickson Nadeau (mother) joined the folks at Zion Lutheran Church of Silverhill for worship on Sunday. Evelyn Nadeau is the grand daughter of Zion Charter Member Eric Ulrickson who apparently was killed by the great hurricane of 1906. Research by Paul and Emily last August suggests that Eric may be buried in an unmarked grave in the Silverhill Cemetery.
